Outgoing Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez has responded on whether he would return to the Catalan club in the future despite his acrimonious sacking.
Speaking to the media, Xavi said: “Yes, I would like a return, why not? Barcelona is the club of my life. I have enjoyed this experience — and also suffered, of course. But I love being at this club and working for it.
“I am fine. It’s been tough last week, but I have my conscience very clear. I’m proud and happy. When we got here we knew it was a difficult time for the club and I think we can be proud of the work we have done.”

Xavi’s future at Barcelona for next season has taken so many turns that it would put any average rally car driver out of work. After completing a U-turn on his decision to leave the club this summer, Xavi was eventually sacked by club president Joan Laporta and the board due to his comments about the Catalan club’s economic situation. Regardless, Xavi has maintained his love for the club and has revealed that he would love to return to Camp Nou in the future.
Xavi’s love for Barcelona is obvious given his history with the club over the last three decades. He started his youth career at La Masia in 1991 and grew up through the ranks before leaving the club in the summer of 2015. It wasn’t long before the club looked at him as the future of Barcelona’s coaching thanks to his exploits with Al-Sadd. He joined the Blaugrana in 2021 and changed the club’s dwindling fortunes.
The Spaniard does not have any other jobs in hand at the moment but it has been reported that Chelsea could be looking to bring Xavi on board as Mauricio Pochettino’s replacement. As for Barcelona, they are set to announce the signing of former Bayern boss Hansi Flick in the coming week.
