The duo formed a legendary midfield partnership at Santiago Bernabeu and in the last 10 years, have won 21 trophies together. They could lift another Champions League title if Los Blancos beat Borussia Dortmund in the final at Wembley on June 1.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side will play their final La Liga game this Saturday as they take on Real Betis at home before heading to England for the Champions League final.
The Croatian took a trip down memory lane as he shared a series of photographs of himself along with the German on the pitch and in the caption he wrote, “Dear Toni, It is difficult for me to write these words. The world of football is sad because a historic footballer is leaving, and I admit that I am also very sad. Friend, you are a legend of this sport and a legend of Real Madrid. I have really enjoyed playing alongside you.
Ha sido un honor compartir el centro del campo del Real Madrid contigo. Nunca olvidaremos esta época dorada en el club de nuestras vidas.
