With Leandro Trossard opening the scoring for at Old Trafford, Manchester United have now conceded the most goals in a season since 1971.
United’s miseries continued on Sunday as Leandro Trossard broke the deadlock at Old Trafford in the 20th minute of the Premier League clash. It was the 82nd goal that the club conceded in the current campaign, the most in a single season for them since 1971.

The strike was also the 56th Premier League goal that the Red Devils leaked this season and are now just a goal away from breaching the club record for most goals conceded in a single campaign. Out of the 82 goals that were scored against the team this season across all competitions, Andre Onana leaked 80 of them while Altay Bayindir conceded twice in the only match he played this season in the FA Cup.
While the Belgian attacker’s goal forced the Manchester-based club to script an unwanted record, it allowed his side to register the most number of goals in a single Premier League season, surpassing their previous best tally of 88 goals in the 2022/23 campaign.
Mikel Arteta’s side held on to their lead until the end of the game to secure the crucial three points and reclaim the top position from Manchester City.
Arsenal have won three successive Premier League games against Manchester United for the first time since September 1998, while this season is just the fourth time they’ve done the double over them in the competition, after 1997-98, 2001-02 and 2006-07.

Arsenal’s win at Old Trafford was their 27th in the Premier League this season, only winning more league games in a campaign in the top-flight in 1970-71 (29) and 1930-31 (28).
Manchester United have lost 19 games in all competitions this season, their most since 1978-79 (also 19), while their nine defeats at Old Trafford this term is their joint-most at home in a season, along with 1920-21, 1930-31, 1933-34, 1962-63 and 1973-74.
