Manchester United may get their transfer wish after former target Vitor Roque’s agent confirmed a possible exit following a rocky debut campaign at Barcelona.
The 19-year-old impressed at the Nou Camp after his move last summer but things have since taken a sour turn. He has recently been dropped by boss Xavi Hernandez, missing Barca’s last three games against Real Madrid, Valencia and Girona.
🚨🔵🔴 Vitor Roque’s agent Cury: “We chose Barça because Vitor loves the club, imagine that we really had other proposals that gave us twice as much”.
“But if we can't find a solution internally, we will have to look for another place on permanent transfer”, told RAC1. pic.twitter.com/46QiukyOij

Mundo Deportivo claim that Xavi is not counting on Roque ahead of next season and a loan move is under consideration. Xavi explained: “We haven’t decided, we will do so at the end of the season. It’s not easy coming from another league and another country.
“He needs more time to adjust and gain more confidence. I think he’s capable of playing for Barcelona for a long time.”
However, his agent Andre Cury has dismissed the idea of him leaving on loan. He said: “We chose Barcelona because he wanted to play for Barcelona. I’m certain Vitor is going to be a great player, but if Barca won’t play him, we have to look at finding a solution.
“A loan for a young boy can be harmful because he could go to a club that does not own him, and has no interest in taking care of him. This is very dangerous for the boy’s career. The best thing is to stay at Barca, but if he can’t stay we will work to get him to leave permanently.”
Roque was linked with a move to Old Trafford and United tried to sign him in a reported multi-million deal. The Catalan giants paid a reported £26million which could eventually double due to add-ons.
He signed a long-term contract until the summer of 2031 and has a reported buy-out clause of £427m (€500m). His agent, Cury later revealed Premier League clubs offered ‘bigger’ offers for Roque.
He said: “We received much bigger offers from Tottenham and Manchester United for Vitor Roque. It was over €100 million. But his career plan is well mapped out and we opted for Barcelona. The moment is not to look at the money but the career.”
